champoon by theb mahapaorya pdf freeA spiritual biography, Champaner-Pavangar is an illustrated record of Champaner-Pavangar’s transformation from Hinduism to Catholicism. The book consists of a deeply personal narrative and illustrations reflecting the author’s observations and descriptions of what he experienced at that time. Written in vivid detail, the narrative follows his journey: initially curious but then convinced by his experience with a Christian missionary; followed by efforts to convert others to Christianity; and finally, the frenetic move away from Christianity back to Hinduism. The author (who has assumed the pen name “Byabahapaoriya”) says that the purpose of writing this book is to encourage other Hindus to study and reflect on their lives and, ultimately, embrace Hinduism: The story begins in 1868, with a young Hindu boy named Champaner (meaning "beloved") who lived in a village in northern India. His father had died before he was born, leaving his mother to raise him. She had converted to Christianity when she married his father in hopes that this would benefit her newborn son. Although not devoutly religious themselves, many in Champaner's extended family were Christian. Champaner was raised in the Christian tradition (although not baptized) and educated by Christian missionaries. At the age of 14 he was delighted when his mother arranged for him to join her in attending a Church service with one of her friends. Champaner enthusiastically embraced Christianity, informing his relatives that he had accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior. Champaner's relatives, however, did not share his enthusiasm, and began to discourage him from attending church services or reading religious texts. Champaner was offended by their lack of support at this important time in his life. He began to attend services clandestinely, making sure no one knew of his attendance. When his family learned of this, they became angry with him again. Champaner was assigned to go to England for his education. Upon arrival in London, Champaner was excited by the prospect of attending church services; however, he was disappointed when none of the local clergy were available to baptize him upon his arrival. He decided to forget England and return home; but after a short while he determined that he had made the right decision in coming here and that this is where God wanted him to be. Champaner returned home briefly, but then returned to England for study at Oxford University. Champaner excelled in his studies there and became very popular with peers and professors alike. He became interested in mathematics and became known as a gifted mathematician. Champaner was introduced to the works of the philosopher, Herbert Spencer, which greatly influenced his thinking. Champaner admired Spencer's approach to human relations and the importance he placed on individual liberty. After returning home, Champaner wrote an essay entitled "The Law of Liberty" which caused a considerable stir in Indian society. Champaner married Laxmibai and returned to England with her for further studies at Cambridge University. Eventually, the couple settled in India after his graduation. cfa1e77820
